For those who are interested in innovative design, I have a good news to share with you!
There is a competition called –Malaysia’s Dream Bamboo Super Hybrid Car Competition, organized by the Malaysian Association of Creativity Innovation (MACRI), University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia (YIM) and SIRIM Bhd. This competition is held in conjunction with the 3rd Creativity & Innovation Week 2010.
Basically, it was regarding to integrate the bamboo material in Car design, the design can be applied to interior, exterior or energy power system of the car.
The requirement for the submission is very simple, can be either in illustration, sketches, or pictures. (can be in 3D CAD model as well if contestant wish to make their entry more presentable). The completion is open to all Malaysian citizens residing inMalaysia or outside Malaysia irrespective of age. Closing date is 15th July 2010.
Bambu’s floor mats, gearshift knob, steering wheel and seat cover are made of bamboo or its fibre fabric.

2-3 years – for bamboo boards or laminations
3-6 years – for construction
>6 years – bamboo gradually loses strength up to 12 years old
