Industrial Factory Visits to Asteel Group of Companies

July marked our second factory site visit, coordinated by the MBOT & TAM local engineering group. We had the privilege of visiting the prestigious ASTEEL Group of Companies’ factory, one of the leading suppliers of housing roofing in East Malaysia. By expanding their branches strategically, the company has adeptly met the growing demand for roofing materials and seamlessly catered to the needs of the local housing market. Our esteemed host, TS Fong, provided us with valuable insights into their company background, exceptional product offerings, and the intricate process behind manufacturing their top-of-the-line roofing products.

Brief introduction of Asteel Group of Company – Established in 1980 by the esteemed Yung Kong Company, this organization has flourished over the past decade, serving the discerning consumers and developers of the Kuching region. Asteel Group prides itself on offering a comprehensive range of roof products, each boasting unique features and superior functionality. Notably, their roofs are treated with a state-of-the-art coating that ensures extended durability, surpassing competing brands available in the local market. Moreover, in line with industry advancements, Asteel Group has embraced the promotion of steel structure housing, a groundbreaking concept that combines concrete and metal frames. By implementing this innovative approach, the construction of houses becomes swift and efficient, requiring minimal manpower from inception to completion.

Besides rooting and metal frame, the company also has a subsidiary company responsible for glass processing line. There is a factory specifically grinding, cutting, customizing cutting glass based on customer request. How they use tables with rollers, to achieve floating movement for the glasses, to ease the grinding process. Using the advanced CNC machine, to cut and fold to break the glasses. The process factory for glasses is much simpler compared to the roof fabrication process.
